Kiriko Takahashi, Center on Disability Studies, University of Hawai'i at Mānoa
Dr. Kiriko Takahashi, Center on Disability Studies, University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa (UHM), holds a Ph.D. in Education in Exceptionalities from UHM with emphasis on Assistive Technology, Culturally Responsive Teaching, and STEM. She has over 20 years of experience working with children, youth and adults with diverse abilities and cultural backgrounds. At CDS, she has led a number of STEM related research and demonstration projects to improve the STEM outcomes of underrepresented groups. She was the project coordinator and research facilitator for the NSF Pacific Alliance and Pathways to STEM projects to support students with disabilities transition through the critical junctures to obtain STEM degree and ultimately transition into STEM careers. Currently, she is also the Director of Pacific Basin University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities and provides technical assistance to activities to improve the outcomes of people with disabilities in American Samoa and the Commonwealth of Northern Marianas Islands.
Hye Jin Park, Center on Disability Studies, University of Hawai'i at Mānoa
Hye Jin Park, Ed.D., Associate Director and Associate Professor at the Center on Disability Studies, University of Hawaii at Manoa, has directed and evaluated numerous federal grant funded projects, including three U.S. DOE Gifted and Talented Education Program grant funded projects that serve underrepresented groups of gifted students such as culturally and linguistically diverse students, indigenous students, and twice-exceptional students. She also has taught gifted education courses at the University of Hawaii at Manoa and has provided educator and parent training. Her main research interest includes exceptional students, postsecondary transition, STEM education, and strength-based education.
Tom Conway, Center on Disability Studies, University of Hawai'i at Mānoa
Tom Conway, Ph.D., retired faculty member of the Center on Disability Studies (CDS) and formerly the Director of Instruction and Training. His background and interests are focused on training people to be Section 508 compliance for web-based digital content, meeting the W3C WCAG 2.0 guidelines, and assisting institutions with developing inclusive policies for bringing people with disabilities into an equitable and inclusive online environment.
