As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  • **NOTICE: Thank you for your interest in submitting work to RDS. At this time we are not accepting unsolicited submissions. Open submissions are scheduled to resume this Spring. **
  • The submission has NOT been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • All article content is in APA 7 format.
  • The submission file is in Microsoft Word format.
  • The text is double-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end. All graphs, tables and images have alternative text descriptions.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
  • If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed:
    • All identifying information, including name of author(s), affiliation, and contact information, should be deleted from the article file.
    • This information (name of the article, authors' names, and authors' affiliations) should be submitted separately as a title page file.
    • Please be sure that the title of the article appears in both the documents.

  • Footnotes were not employed within the submission. If needed, endnotes were used, placed immediately following the references at the end of the manuscript.
  • Any images have alternative text (alt-text) provided. This is essential for accessibility, e.g., for those using screen readers. (See https://tinyurl.com/word-alt-text for instructions.) If manuscript received without alt-text provided for images, it will be returned to author.
  • If DOIs are included within your reference page, these must be listed as live urls, e.g., their format would be https://doi.org/xx.xxx/yyyy.
